Did you get your FREE devotional journal yet? It's a great start to ditching #bossbabe culture and following Jesus instead!
Hi, I'm Beth, your new bestie... Thank you so much for joining me here in the blog! This is a place for Christian Entrepreneurs to ditch #bossbabe culture and to start following the pat that God has for their life and their business. We're just getting started, I am so glad you are here!
We will be building our faith, re-establishing our identity in Christ, leaning into what it takes to live and do business as a woman of God, and some self-care topics just for fun!
As an entrepreneur, the whole point of having a business is to make money and be successful, correct? But we also know that choosing God’s will is our ultimate purpose in life, so how do we do both? What if God calls you do to something that isn’t going to be successful by the world’s standards? What if the business He calls you to, or asks you to pivot into, isn’t going to generate six-figures? Do we bag it? Or follow Him? I discuss this in episode 24…
I remember 3-5 years ago when I got so distracted. What I know now but didn’t see at that time, was that I didn’t feel worthy. Covid kinda rocked everyone’s world in some way and for me it was fear (not of the virus itself but because the world I thought I knew didn’t really exist anymore) and I didn’t feel very secure in my purpose. Instead of leaning into God, I got distracted by Instagram and leaned into the pursuit of success. Fast forward to major burnout, followed by the last few years of revelation, grace, surrender and hard lessons. This is part of sanctification that will go on until I die but hopefully my humility will increase and I won’t have to learn lessons in such a painful way anymore…
I truly believe that God uses our burnout to get our attention. Maybe the burnout we feel mentally and in our nervous system is BECAUSE we have grieved the Spirit. I honestly don’t know, I am not claiming that to be true, it could be true for some of us and not for others. I’m simply just curious about that.
Eph 4:30 says, “and do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”
Isaiah 63:10 says “ yet the rebelled and grieved the Holy Spirit.” referencing the Isealities in the desert on the way to the promised land.
Now, our promised land is ultimately in Heaven for eternity. But I do think God has a promised land for each of us here on earth. The Israelites had to trust God, flee with Moses, try to escape against all odds, go into the unknown with no plan or certainty, survive only on the provisions from God, and when they got to the promised land they were going to have to fight for that too! Against big scary giants and again, the odds seemed against them. Sounds a little like entrepreneurship, yes?!?! God had a promised land ready for them BUT HE WASN’T JUST GOING TO HAND IT OVER! THEY STILL HAD TO TRUST HIM AND WORK FOR IT!
But they didn’t. They got scared and turned around and went their own way. Did their own thing. And the consequences were dire.
I’m not saying you aren’t willing to work for your purpose or hard in your business, but what do you do when things get hard or more importantly, when things don’t go your way and you don’t like God’s plan?
