This week’s podcast episode title is – Financial Security: How to have peace even when you don’t know the plan.
In this episode we’ll chat about financial security. Is it REALLY security? Or a false sense of security? Do you get nervous when you don’t know the entire blueprint, then start controlling or over planning? Are you afraid to take the risk when God calls you to act on something without showing you the end game? I know you will love this episode as we renew your money mindset and sense of security in Christ not wealth. You will get a new perspective on financial freedom and peace in trusting in God’s provision.
I was watching a webinar the other day and the speaker said : Risk taking is not reckless, but a joy in walking faith. WOW! So true! It made me think of another time I heard a Christian financial advisor say that wealthy people don’t take risks. It made sense at the time, but I can’t help but look at all the stories we read about in the bible and see that they are all built around RISK! Or our human, flesh, worldly idea of risk anyway.
The bible teaches us that we have peace when we are walking in the spirit. But have you ever really thought about how to have peace when walking into the lion’s den? Or when you’re stepping out of the boat? Or when you leave everything you know behind and blindly move into the unknown? So what we do as entrepreneurs when God calls us to a risk that doesn’t make financial sense?
Well the first thing we need to do is OBEY so you experience God Himself!
Why? How can we grow to believe and trust Him if we don’t give him the chance to show us what he can do in our life?! Yes, He is all powerful and can do whatever he wants without our permission but He isn’t going to force us to obey, how would we ever learn and grow with him? He isn’t our puppet master, we HAVE to CHOOSE to obey.
Easier said than do right? So HOW do we do this when we’re frozen in doubt? Start by forgetting everything you thought you knew LOL! Proverbs 3:5-6 say do not lean on your own understanding! Trust in the lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to Him and he will make your paths straight. (NIV)
I know this isn’t easy. I am literally living this right now. I am telling myself all these things…. This morning I read in my devotional “If you say you are sanctified, SHOW IT.”
Next, stop caring what others think!
As a Christian Entrepreneur you need to live fearing God, NOT man.
Why? Because it doesn’t even matter what others think or say. Imagine what people thought about Moses, Ezekiel, Isaiah, or any of the disciples! Your path that God anointed you for doesn’t have to make sense for anyone else! Haters are gonna hate, and the people that love you will support you even if they think you’re a little crazy.
Again, easier said than done, so how do we actually do this? Remember who you are. You are CHOSEN by God, you are the daughter of a King, you have a seat at His table that He prepared for you in the presence of your current stress and He has anointed you with oil. He has given you a cup that is overflowing. That’s who you are, doesn’t matter what anyone thinks.
And I feel this is almost like muscle memory in our mind. We have to renew the attitude of our minds , as Ephesians 4:23 says. It’s not easy but the more we exercise it the easier it gets as our faith builds.
Now, do a pulse check and audit your heart so you can recognize what is important to you. Matthew 6:21 says “For where your treasure is, your heart will be there also.”
Friend, we need to get honest with ourselves. Is your treasure comfort? Safety? Financial security? Certainty in the plan ahead of you? Do you think the prophets or disciples were worried about those things? Maybe some were, maybe some weren’t. But they answered the call anyway. They took the risk. Jesus answered the call to the cross. He loved enough to do it but he sweated blood, he knew what was coming, and he did it anyway. I don’t think God is asking anyone one of us to do something that big and yet here we are, stuck. Not obeying. Stuck because we don’t know if it’s safe enough or comfortable enough or sure enough.
Remember what Jesus did for you on the cross, what He did because He loves you, and has an overflowing abundance of grace and prosperity for you. That is the truth that gets us unstuck. That is the truth that is worth the risk.
Matthew 6:19-24 Reminds us that the treasures we store up here on earth are useless and wasted. Let’s remember to “store up” our eternal treasures, not the temporal ones.
I’ll add one of my favorite verses, Mark 4:19 “but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth, and the desire for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.”
We want our work here on earth as Christian Entrepreneurs to be fruitful, and it starts with obeying, no matter the cost, no matter the risk.
